Not often I post music videos but this one’s worth a watch. Some nice visual tricks, and asks an interesting question about art and work summed up well by Scott Hansen:

“Is out work the true meaning? On your death bed will you praise yourself for the things you’ve achieved as an artist, be fulfilled because you followed your “dream”. Or will you be thankful for the relationships you’ve forged and the lives you’ve touched?”

Kat Edmonson and her band performed just down the hall in the Soundcheck studios Monday.

Music implies that you’re part of their [the audiences] life forever. Even if they go off you eventually, you always stay in their heart somewhere because it’s almost as we’ve been through a certain period together that is unforgettable. Music frees people and it unifies people and that’s what’s so incredible about it. Music is every single art form piling together. Singing is a full explosion of emotion. Music is a very personal thing. People hear music and they believe that they’re free. — Morrissey (via thvrsday)

25 songs in 25 days

For a long time now, I have wanted to have a music exchange with people in my life.  Music is so personal, and I thought there are probably songs that have impacted even those closest to me that I don’t know about.

So I’m going to share over the next 25 days 25 songs that have changed my life. And my hope is that I’ll receive the same type of list back from my friends and family, so that I can have a playlist all about you and the songs you love on my iPod.

My list is pretty random, which I love.  When out with friends the other night, Genuine, Belinda Carlisle and Blackstreet all came up in funny conversations.  (And let’s hope you all know who Genuine is so you don’t hit that relationship “oh-no-nos” dealbreakers list, which the three of us agreed Tom Haverford hit spot on.)

I’ll try to start rolling my list out tomorrow.  In the meantime, make sure you don’t break oh-no-no No. 3, and get up to date on your ’90s R&B.

Looking forward to Gina’s picks.
